Typhoon, Main House

One of our most popular rooms, Typhoon sets the stage for a memorable weekend getaway in New Hampshire.

Providing a seacoast lodging alternative to Durham, NH and Newburyport MA hotels, this room is decorated with Williamsburg wallpaper and retains its original wide-pine floor, dating from about 1820. The bed is a queen-size, cherry, four-poster, and the American-made armoire dates to the early 1800s. The room also has an antique writing table and two wingback chairs. The works of art give the room an oriental flavor.

The merchant vessel Typhoon was launched in 1851. She weighed 1612 tons and was 225 feet long. Typhoon's maiden voyage was a recording-making trip that has yet to be broken. She made the voyage from Portsmouth to Liverpool in just 13 1/2 days. A color print of Typhoon graces one wall of the room.

In Typhoon, the private en-suite bathroom has a large stall shower. This room is located on the second floor of the Main House toward the back of the house.

Amenities: Queen Bed, Air Conditioning, Private Bath with large stall shower, Wi-Fi, Flat-screen TV, Writing Desk, and Armchairs.

Martin Hill Inn is very nice and comfortable. Rooms are spacious and quiet. Lots of hot water! Little things have been thought of. Garden is gorgeous. Breakfasts are good and Margot is a wealth of information. Would definitely like to return. Deb, Seattle, Washington.
