Once more we say good bye to the fall season with Portsmouth Restaurant Week from November 8th to November 17, 2012. An amazing deal at $29.99 for dinner and $16.99 for lunch, you can eat the fixed price menu at any one of the participating restaurants. The list of restaurants ranges from Portsmouth to Durham and from Rye to Kittery, ME.
At our New Hampshire Inn, we love the semi-annual restaurant week because of the special menus that the chefs design just for this event. If you can’t find something to love on that menu, there is always the a la carte menu. Locals fill the restaurants as they catch up with old favorites or try some of the newcomers to town. Research and dining strategies are worked out days in advance and weekend reservations go quickly.
Of the over 30 restaurants participating, there are some long-time favorites such as The Black Trumpet, Jumpin’ Jay’s Fish Cafe and Ristorante Massimo. But also there are some newcomers which include Martingale Wharf, Moxy and The Black Birch.
Moxy’s menu, for example, offers a sampler of their eight favorite American Tapas and dessert flight. They even have the option of wine pairings for $20 extra. One of the tapas on the menu is their Apple Cider Lacquered Pork Belly which I have had and it was incredible.
My personal favorite during restaurant week is the Wellington Room. Entrees at this wonderful waterfront restaurant alone are often over $30. Their beautiful three course menu is brimming with tasty items and mouthwatering desserts, all for $29.95 which includes the twinkling lights of Portsmouth Harbor gratis.
Stay at the Martin Hill Inn and you will be just a 10 to 20 minute walk to all the downtown Portsmouth restaurants. Restaurants in Kittery, Rye and Durham are short drives away.
