With satin burgundy drapes and muted gold-painted walls, this first-floor room at Martin Hill Inn will make you feel pampered the moment you walk through the door. This spacious accommodation has plenty of room for the two mahogany four-poster beds. If you would prefer not to share the queen-size bed, the twin bed is available for your traveling companion.
Please Note: The total maximum occupancy allowed at the inn limits each room to only two guests. Although the Ranger Suite has two beds, it can only sleep two persons. Sorry, no exceptions allowed.
Ranger was one of the most well known of the ships built in Portsmouth Harbor. She was a 20-gun frigate commanded by John Paul Jones, known as the founder of the U.S. Navy. In Ranger, Jones scoured the English and Irish coasts during the Revolutionary War. In 1778 Ranger became the first US ship recognized by a foreign power.
Other antique furnishings in the Ranger Suite include a slant-top secretary desk with shield-back chair, marble lamp stands and a mahogany English armoire. This room retains its original pine wood floors, from 1820. During your stay, catch up on a favorite show on the flat-screen TV, or relax on the Sheraton-style loveseat or wingback chair and enjoy a good book. The private en-suite bath features a full shower/tub unit.
