How long does it take to walk to Downtown Portsmouth?
It is a 10-15 minute walk to Market Square which is the center of downtown.
Do you have parking?
Yes, we have off-street parking in the back of our property. Enter the parking lot from the driveway off of Union Street.
Do all of your rooms have private baths?
Yes. We have rooms with full bathtub/showers or stall showers and a very popular claw foot tub with handheld shower.
What is the difference between a Traditional and a Premium Room?
All of our rooms have queen size beds and private bathrooms, so the difference is mostly the size of the room. Our Premium rooms are larger or have a special feature, such as the porch attached to Noonday.
Do you serve breakfast?
Yes, a full breakfast with fruit and hot entrée is included in the room rate. Breakfast is served from 8:00 until 9:00 a.m. We happily accommodate food preferences and allergies; please advise us when you make your reservation.
Do you have TVs in the rooms or common area?
No, we do not. If you need to watch a sporting event, there are several nice sports bars in town with plasma and wide screen TV’s. We also have wireless internet access so if you are traveling with a laptop, you will have access to online video services or webcasts.
What accommodations do you have for children?
We recommend the Inn for children over 12 years of age. Our rooms can only take two people each, so be sure that your teenagers will be comfortable in their own room. For families with youngsters, we recommend the Sise Inn, Hilton Garden Inn or the Sheraton as wonderful downtown options.
Do you accommodate pets?
Due to the small number of rooms at the Inn, we cannot dedicate a room to pets. Therefore, for the comfort of guests with allergies, we can not take pets at the Inn. There are several boarding services in the Portsmouth and Kittery, ME areas that may provide an option for you.
What time is check in? Check out?
Check in is between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. Please check out by 10:30 a.m. If you arrive prior to check in, feel free to leave your car and luggage in our private, off-street parking area while you wander around downtown. You can also leave your car with us after check out so that you can explore Portsmouth a little more.
Can we drop off our bags before 4:00 pm?
During the middle of the day, we have to run errands and clean rooms, so we are generally not available to take bags. However, if you are traveling by car, feel free to use our parking lot where you can leave the car with luggage at any time before 4:00 pm. You do not need to notify us when you do this, just park and enjoy your walk around town. If you are traveling by public transportation, we can arrange to take your bags for you by appointment.Is it possible to schedule an early check in?
If you are attending a special event that makes an early arrival necessary, we can schedule an appointment for you. Please speak with the Innkeeper directly to schedule your early check in.
How do we arrange for check in after 6:00 pm?
We have a procedure for late check in. Please speak with the Innkeeper directly to schedule a check-in after 6:00 p.m.
How long does it take to drive from Boston? From Manchester? From Portland?
1 to 1-1/4 hours from Boston. 1 hour from Manchester or Portland.Do any of your rooms have fireplaces or hot tubs?
The Inn’s buildings date from the early 1800’s when central heating systems were the latest innovation and fireplaces where considered dirty, dangerous and old fashioned! So no, we do not have any fireplaces. Also, because of the age of our buildings, we do not have any hot tubs.What are your common areas like?
During the quiet season, we have our winter parlor where people gather for afternoon tea, a game of chess or working the jigsaw puzzle. In the summertime, our common area is outside in the gardens with chairs and tables under the shady canopy of maple trees. Year round, the dining room serves as the hub for information on restaurants and activities, in addition to providing maps and refreshments.
